Major Utility Taps Knovel’s Trusted Technical Information

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Image Engineers at Atlanta-based Southern Company have started turning to Knovel in large numbers to help solve complex problems faster and increase the efficiency of their technical decisions.Southern Company enhanced their Knovel subscription by including Knovel Math, a new product that delivers engineering reference content directly into the Mathcad work environment.

Southern Company’s Engineering and Construction Services organization has a strong core of internal expertise – including engineering, procurement and construction capabilities – that is unique among integrated utilities. Considering the importance of trustworthy technical information to their projects, Knovel is natural fit.

“Innovation, speed and quality are fundamental elements of the expertise our engineers bring to every project, so we continually look for the best resources available to increase efficiency and maintain a competitive advantage in terms of cost and productivity. Knovel’s content is directly related to our business, so our engineers can quickly find relevant information and make efficient technology decisions. Furthermore, the interactive tables are valuable because we can incorporate them directly into reports. This is otherwise a tedious, manual process.” Carl Toner, project manager, Engineering and Construction Services, Southern Company.

We welcome Southern Company to the ranks of over 600 companies and Universities that depend on Knovel.
