With more than 3,000 leading reference works and databases from more than 90 leading technical publishers and  professional societies, Knovel provides access to engaging, reliable experts that can help you in your work.

In the past year, thousands of engineers viewed Knovel’s industry webinars to gain expertise on topics ranging from Project Management to Safety.  All of Knovel’s prior webinars are available free, on-demand. If you’d like to receive notification of future webinars please register here.

Featured Webinar:  Designing & Managing Influent Water Systems- Keys to Minimizing Risk & Maximizing Flexibility

In this one hour webinar from Knovel and panel co-sponsors Chemical Publishing Company and Gulf Publishing Company, you will learn how to maximize the reliability and flexibility of influent water systems for existing and new systems.

An influent water system is water that flows into and is to be used by an industrial plant. Influent water systems purify water by removing soluble contaminants and suspended solids for use as boiler make-up, cooling system make-up, and process water for manufacturing.

Join us live on Thursday, July 21st at 12:00 p.m., as Knovel’s featured experts Dave Christophersen, of Crown Solutions, Colin Frayne of Aquassurance, Inc. and Loraine Huchler of MarTech Systems, Inc. explain the benefits of proper design framework to help you prepare for emerging needs, select better equipment and avoid costly mistakes.

Knovel Solution Story: Researching Designs that Reduce Stress

June 30th, 2011 by Amanda Moreno

Researching Designs that Reduce Stress

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods can underestimate the impact of stress concentration on the strength of mechanical components. This common engineering problem comes in the form of a story from a bicycle component manufacturer. A number of claims from customers related to the failure of pedal axles were received and an engineer was brought in to assess
the problem and offer a solution.

Follow along as we walk through how stress concentration methodology found on Knovel can be used in the design to increase the strength of a mechanical part without FEA.
